Head Turner is a photo and 360 video booth app. A host runs it at their event on their own phone and tablet. Guests step up, get recorded, and leave with a private link to their own photos and videos. This page says what the app and its server keep, why, and when each thing is deleted. Head Turner is made by Colby Kauk, an independent developer in California.
The short version
- Guests install nothing and sign in to nothing.
- Your photos and videos are kept until the date shown on your page, 60 days at most, then deleted.
- If you give an email address, it's used once to send your link, then deleted.
- No ads, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
What the booth keeps about guests
- Your photos and videos. The booth records them on the host's devices and uploads them to our server. On the devices, each one is deleted once it's uploaded, and nothing waits on a device longer than seven days.
- Your email address, if you choose to give it. We store it encrypted, together with your link, send you one email when your video is ready, and then delete both. If it can't be sent, it's deleted on the date your event's videos are.
- Totals for the host. How many groups opened their page and how many times videos were saved. Only totals, never who.
We don't ask for or keep names, phone numbers, locations, contacts or advertising identifiers. The app has no analytics or advertising code, and our server keeps no log of who visits.
Who can see your photos and videos
Only someone with your private link: the QR code the booth shows your group, or the link in your email. The link carries a code, and our server keeps only a scrambled form of it (a hash), so even our own database can't open a video without the link. Each download link the server hands out works for two hours. Anyone you share your link with can see what's under it, so share it the way you'd share the photos themselves.
The host sees the totals above. They can't browse guests' videos on our server.
How long we keep things
Each photo and video is deleted 60 days after it reaches our server, or sooner if the host picked a shorter time, at least seven days, before their event's first video. Your page shows the date, and it never moves earlier. An event's look (the host's logo, colours and pictures) is deleted once the event has held nothing for that long.
About hosts
Hosts don't sign in. The booth's own devices make a secret key for each event, and our server keeps only a hash of it. We keep the event's look and its settings, such as how long guests' files are kept. The host's passcode for the operator screens never leaves their device. The app uses the camera to record, the local network to link the phone and tablet directly without internet, and the photo library only for pictures the host picks for the event's look.
Companies that handle data for us
- Cloudflare runs our server and stores the photos, videos and records above. Like any network, it handles visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the service; we don't store them.
- Resend sends the one email, if you asked for it.
They handle data only to provide these services to us. We don't sell or rent anyone's information.
Your choices
- You can skip the email and use the QR code instead.
- To have your photos and videos deleted sooner, send your link to support@headturnerstudios.com.
- We don't track you over time or across websites, so a browser's Do Not Track setting changes nothing here.
Children
Head Turner isn't made for children, and we don't knowingly collect a child's personal information. A host may run the booth at an event where children are present; if you're a parent and want your child's photos or videos deleted, send us the link and we'll delete them.
Changes
If what we keep, or for how long, changes, we'll update this page and its date.
